After an early begin Tuesday afternoon that beat the stormy climate forecast for later within the day, Gibraltar/Washington Island’s baseball group obtained an early begin on scoring with 4 runs within the backside of the second.
The No. 2-seeded Vikings added a run within the third inning and gained their WIAA Division 4 regional semifinal at residence over No. 7-seeded Wisconsin Rapids Assumption, 5-1.
Each of the Vikings hits – singles by Luke Rericha and Brady Kita – got here within the second inning when eight batters went to the plate and half of them scored.
Assumption, which tallied 5 hits, scored its lone run within the prime of the fifth when a putout on the plate by Kita on Parker Hainz prevented one other run with the third out of the inning.

With the win, Gibraltar/Washington Island advances to the regional title recreation it’s scheduled to host Thursday in opposition to the winner of the opposite semifinal postponed till Wednesday between No. 11-seeded Sevastopol at No. 3-seeded Iola-Scandinavia.
